Cambodia Gambling Dens

[ English ]

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia casinos that lie just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall gambling is not legal. Eight casinos are based in a generally small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect spot, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; although, funding sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 17:00, and though visas are supposedly required to pass, there are methods around this, as is correct of most border crossings.

The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machines and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the common table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational vacation and hotel complex that highlights a number of conveniences on top of the gambling den, which contains 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and 88 gaming tables.
